MARKESAN IS YEAR 2000's CENTER OF WISCONSIN'S POPULATION
[ Up ] [ PopulationCntr ] [ Mammoth ]
Markesan holds the distinction of being the center of
population for Wisconsin. With every 10 year federal census, the
population center is charted. Nationally the center of population
using the 2000 census is Edgar Springs, Missouri.

Put in layman's terms, if the state were flat, and
everyone weighed the same, Markesan would be the balancing point in
keeping the state level.
The actual site is on County H between Highway 44 and
County O. There is a sign along the road with more details.
