CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

To join the Chamber, Click Here for a New Member Application!

Don't ask yourself "what can the Chamber do for me," instead ask "what can I do for my Community."  There are businesses that might not reap great rewards from being a Chamber member, but are always there with their dues because of their ambition to support the community and those within it.  If you aren't already a member, please contemplate joining.  Hopefully you can enjoy some of the far reaching benefits described below!

The Chamber meets on the second Thursday of each month at one of the local restaurants.  We meet at noon to discuss the Chambers agenda over lunch.  It is a great time to join together with other business members from the community, brainstorming ideas on what might help your business and the community as a whole!  Please ask a Chamber member for more details, or e-mail us at mail@markesanwi.com.

Read on to see what your Chamber of Commerce is doing to help your business and the community!

Purchasing Chamber Cash, in place of a gift certificate, gives the recipient a wide variety of places to shop and helps to promote community shopping! Markesan Chamber Cash is available in 3 different denominations; $5, $10 and $25.  The list of current Chamber members is conveniently listed on the backside of each Chamber Cash certificate or can be viewed on the "Businesses" page of this web site. Contact Lisa Broder at the Markesan State Bank (920)-398-2358 or email lbroder@markesanstatebank.com  to find out how easy they are to purchase.

The Chamber's Message Sign is visibly located on Hwy 44 between the Cenex Convenient Store and Ted's Piggly Wiggly. Locals look to this sign on a weekly basis to "get the scoop" on what's new in town. To rent one or both sides, simply pick up a form at the Cenex Convenience Store and fill out your message. Chamber members pay just $7.50 per week/side and non-members, $12.50 per week/side. Advertise your business or surprise someone with a birthday wish, the messages are endless.

Markesan's place within the five community consortium known as Green Lake Country.  The group that is working to take Markesan to a higher marketing level.

Network Health out of Menasha Wisconsin in conjunction with the SIA Insurance Services offers Chamber members some health care plans that are normally 10-15% lower than competing plans.  With 58 different plans to choose from you can be assured they will tailor a plan to best suit your businesses needs.  For the most part, all it takes to qualify is a business with 2 employees working at least 30 hours per week.  These "employees" can even be family members such as a Husband and Wife.  Contact the SIA Insurance Services out of Waupun by e-mailing Pat Ellie at pat@siainsurance.com or by phone (800) 236-7266 for all the details.

The Markesan Chamber of Commerce also purchased an over-sized check for donation publicity pictures.  It has gotten a lot of use.  Be sure to advertise your community participation by the way of a financial donation by asking to use our check, and thanks in advance for caring enough in your community to help out.

The Markesan Chamber of Commerce designed and maintains the City of Markesan website www.markesanwi.com.  Please take some time to take in all the different pages and links.  We bet even the long time residents of Markesan can learn something from the pages within!  If you have an idea of something good to add to the site, please let Dan Kok at the Markesan State Bank know by stopping in or emailing him at mail@markesanwi.com.  As a Chamber member your business will be listed on the "splash" page of the BUSINESS link.  This highlights your business as one that is community oriented!

The Chamber will design a one page web site for your company if it doesn't already have a web presence.  An example of a member that is taking advantage of this offer can be seen at www.markesanwi.com/pubnprime.htm.   Take advantage of this great offer to let the world know about your business and what it does!

Each year the Markesan Chamber chooses a Senior from the Markesan High School who is looking at going on to college in a business field and gives them the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship.  Chamber of Commerce members are proud to support their local school talent in this manner.  These kids are our future!

Special advertising discounts for new members from the area's finest news publications.  Group advertising rates for current Chamber members.
The Markesan Regional Reporter, your hometown newspaper, and The Billboard, your free advertising product mailed to over 28,000 homes, offer a promotional media kit to all new Markesan Chamber of Commerce members.  One free $100.00 starter ad for new members. The "Welcome Neighbor" program, that puts a sampling of your businesses goods, services and information into a gift basket that is presented to new residents in the community.  If you want something handed out on behalf of your business, be sure to contact Janet Whitehouse 920-398-3219 or jlwhite@dotnet.com.  We have had a very favorable response with these baskets and look forward to handing many more out.  If you are a new to the area, and somehow slipped past us, please come forward and introduce yourself, we have a gift waiting for you!

The Chamber constructed a float to be used in Markesan parades as well as other parades in the surrounding communities.  The float advertises the dates of Markesan's main events along with an attention grabbing picture.  If you are willing to help out by pulling the float through a local parade please contact the Chamber at mail@markesanwi.com for more details.
